Notes on agriculture and gardening, ca. 1790, probably kept by a member of the Verplanck family. Most, if not all of the material seems to be transcribed from printed sources, and a page from an almanac, with a recipe for making cider, is tipped-in to v. 2. The first volume has a title page reading A treatise on agriculture and practical husbandry: designed to instruct landowners and farmers how they may improve and enrich their lands. It may be transcribed or paraphrased from Metcalf Brower, A treatise on agriculture and practical husbandry: designed for the information of landowners and farmers. Providence, 1786. The second volume deals with the cultivation of flowers and fruit trees, and includes notes on works by Philip Miller and Thomas Hitt. The third volume deals with livestock, and also contains designs for barns and other farm buildings, with diagrams.
